dent of International Parking Design (IPD) as part of its long-term transition plan. Previous President Cliff Smith will shift roles into the CEO position. Marks, who joined IPD in 1997, previously served as Senior Vice President in charge of its Irvine, CA, office. His new role also involves oversight of day-to-day operations for the entire company. Joining the company in 1985, Smith served as its President since 2005; he now steps into the position of Chief Executive Officer.With more than 25 years of parking experience, Smith has achieved a reputation for creativity and excellence with parking design projects. Parkmobile has partnered with MacKay Meters to


allow parking customers the option of paying by phone. The Parkmobile system instantly updates the MacKay Sentinel back office meter management system with real-time pay- ment information, giving MacKay’s customers the ability to see all parking payments at once, regardless of the payment option chosen. Complus Data Innovations recently launched a new


service for municipal and university clients to allow their customers to purchase and renew parking permits online with most major credit cards. Once payments are processed through BuyMyPermit.com, customers receive a confirma- tion email. Records at the issuing municipality or university will be updated accordingly. The purchase will be processed and the permit mailed to the address provided. Carl Walker Construction (CWC) has received four


orders. Cannery Casino Resorts of Las Vegas has contracted CWC to design/build a 1,362-space 408,000-square-foot parking garage at The Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Washington, PA. The project, valued at more than $14 mil- lion, is scheduled for completion inMay 2012. CWC also has been contracted to design/build a 60,000-square-foot com- mercial mixed-use facility for Springhill Suites in Mount Lebanon, PA. Owned by Kratsa Properties, the structure will include spaces for 81 cars and will be completed by October 2011. This project is valued at more than $3 million. Pitts- burgh-based Impakt Development also has contractedCWC to design/build a 32,000-square-foot 86-space garage at the Fifth Avenue School Lofts, a residential development in Pittsburgh. Also, the U.S. government has contracted CWC to design/build a 700-space 247,000-square-foot parking structure at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center. The project, valued at $8,666,150, will be completed by September 2012. Next Parking, a division of Next Realty, has completed


a comprehensive audit and review of the MTP Arris Lofts Garage in Long Island City, NY, and its management processes. The firm identified opportunities for operational, financial, service and maintenance improvements. It is rec- ommending installing an automated revenue and ticket con- trol system to improve efficiencies and eliminate revenue shortfall; adding an enhanced key security system for valet patrons; and expanding revenue payment options to include credit cards.
