The BA-55 is a battery-powered mobile pa system that operates in mono or stereo modes but it is much more than just a convenient way of amplifying a sound source; this is a remarkably adaptable system with some really great built-in features.

In common with virtually all of its stable-mates from the Roland range the BA-55 is built to last. Typically robust and available in a choice of black or white, it’s vaguely cylindrical construction resembles a wedge monitor and has two huge handles mounted at either end to facilitate easy lifting, plus a heavy duty steel mesh grill protecting the pair of 6.5- inch drivers. Indeed, the BA-55 can be used both horizontally or mounted vertically on a speaker pole (the BA-55’s built-in speaker stand adaptor is fully compatible with the Roland ST-A95 speaker stand). The BA-55 automatically senses when it is positioned horizontally or vertically and accordingly switches from mono (vertical) to stereo (horizontal) modes to best orient the speakers so that they operate at their optimum efficiency. As a fully self contained unit the BA-55 requires eight x AA batteries (although it will also operate on AC mains) and its portability is matched by an incredibly clever features set. Probably the most immediately impressive is the built-in dynamic wireless microphone, which even comes in its own storage compartment in the BA-55’s chassis. Besides offering all of the freedom of a conventional wireless microphone the BA-55’s mic can also be used as remote control to activate the BA-55’s built-in digital echo. No more faffing around struggling to find the echo switch on the main control panel, just use the microphone to active that echo effects from the stage. Brilliant! The BA-55 also features a powerful and flexible three-band EQ and a built-in automatic feedback destroyer, guaranteeing that your performances sound spot-on every time. So, armed with the Roland BA-55 you are good to go for acoustic music,
