THE UNSIGNED BAND’S BIBLE!

BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE UNSIGNED BAND’S BRAND -

Hi, Welcome to the August issue of Playmusic Magazine. How many of you have been braving the weather and hitting the festival circuit during this somewhat unpredictable summer? Many of our friends and readers have been in touch with their tales of getting alternatively drenched and then sunburnt to a frazzle at Glastonbury, braving the downpours at Download, getting all soggy at Sonsiphere and lashed at Latitude (only by the rain, you understand!). However, despite our good old British summer’s ability to disrupt the best laid of

plans, you all just stuck your wellies on, danced in the mud and had a great time, no matter what! I haven’t been to any festivals so far this year but I’ve played at quite a few during this summer and I never fail to be amazed by how people will happily ignore atrocious weather conditions that would stop an army in its tracks in the name of having a good time. The watery theme continues in this month’s PM. Our cover stars Trivium are back with a hard hitting new LP In Waves and you can read Brad Barrett’s great interview with the band on page 46. We are also expanding our guitar techniques section. Turn to page 58, where you will find our new Licks & Tips column that ties-in with our online techniques section on the Playmusic website. If you are puzzled by the online licks, never fear. We will be posting tablature and a brief technical explanation of the licks demonstrated online, so you see exactly what’s going down and soon be shredding like a pro! Finally we are very pleased to welcome our new editorial assistant Dan Jones to the Playmusic team. Dan is a life long music fanatic with loads of experience promoting bands and DJ’ing in the Brighton area. Dan’s passion and enthusiasm (not to mention his formidable tea making skills) are already proving to be a great asset to our magazine. See you next month,
