network and forward their professional development. If you are not using these resources, you are missing one of the greatest values of your membership. Te “Public” box is most frequented by the public

and non-members; however, you can use it too, both as a resource for your clients or yourself. Under the “Public” section, the citizens of Maryland and those injured seeking justice in Maryland can find an attorney through our new “LawyerSearch” option. On this page of the website, there is a list of practice areas that are most frequently referenced in the numerous calls the office receives each day from people looking for an attorney. All attorney reference inquiries are directed to this section of the page. You may find that you or your firm is not listed; this is a perfect opportunity for you to advertise your area of practice. Tis feature has several options for you and your firm and may be another way for you to gain referrals.

Although the Association’s Public Outreach programs

are now the mission of the MAJ Foundation, it is MAJ’s members who are the most generous with their time and resources. Te community matters and our members care. Tis section also helps tell the Association’s story of how our members continually contribute to the community. Tis section also features the MAJ Career Center which

has been very active for both employees and employers. Over the last few months, we’ve seen numerous successes in matching candidates with firms. Should you have an opening in your firm, you may want to try here first to avoid the myriad of unqualified resumes sent from typical search engine you are using now. And if you know of someone who has recently graduated, or perhaps may be looking to move, I suggest that you tell them about the MAJ Career Center because of its focus on Maryland firms. Are you looking for an upcoming event? Looking to

take a seminar online through SeminarWeb? Visit the “CLE Center,” the third box on the front page. Of course you could use the “Calendar” feature on the navy bar at the top of the page or even click on “CLE & Events” on the second tool bar. Both will get you to relatively the same place. However the “Center” will get you exactly where you want to go.

Justice Nation Probably the most significant feature that resulted from

the programming of the platform is a new social network called Justice Nation. Justice Nation is a membership community for attorneys

throughout the nation. It has many of the features of Facebook (create a profile, connect by inviting colleagues, a running list

of activities and conversations) but geared toward a more professional demeanor strictly for attorneys. You’ve probably have received some invites already. Take a moment to connect with your fellow MAJ members and attorneys nationwide with JusticeNation.

Work to Be Done It seems that our work to deliver more value to our

members is never done. Tis is a perfect example. My hopes are that we have worked out all the bugs and made all the enhancements by the time you are reading this article. Te “Calendar” section is changing to integrate the database and the new platform. Word has it that there will be a “place this event in your Outlook” feature that will help you manage your busy schedule and not miss a MAJ event. We are also working on redesigning the “Search” feature in order to make this feature more user-friendly and easy to navigate. Our goal is to make it fast and easy. We are also working on the Document Bank. We’ve sent several messages to our members to solicit depositions, documents, briefs, pleadings, verdicts and settlements, and seamlessly integrate it with our Defense Expert Database. Again, hopes are to have this done by late fall. All I ask is that you take time to visit our old, new friend

the MAJ website. Go there and get to know it all over again. Soon you will love it as much as we do. If you don’t, let us know; maybe we’ve missed something or can easily add to the current functionality. A value like this can be appreciated more by using it often. Take it for a test drive and let us know what you think. 
