6 NEW FACES -Who’s new and who’s moving on Apprentices first Port of call
Ten apprentices (1) have started work at The Bristol Port Company after the company conducted an extensive search initially for just six places.
Bristol Port started its search in January for apprentices to join its two-year Port Operations Apprenticeship Scheme, and after 50 initial candidates were interviewed at its Apprentice Day, 20 were shortlisted for a three-day outward bound and assessment course in Snowdonia. The company was so impressed by their performance that it created four extra places. Chief executive Simon Bird said: “We are delighted to welcome the new apprentices to the Bristol Port team. They impressed us so much
throughout the selection process that we decided to create extra apprenticeships to nurture these promising people.
“Seven out of our ten current operations managers started out as apprentices so we have high hopes that the class of 2011 will be future leaders for the business.”
The ten apprentices are Reeko Best, Ben Breeze, George Colgan, Tim Colgate, Martin Day, Ben Giles, Will Lansdown, Ashlee Moon, Antony Savill and Dan Young.
