help ‘eliminate the fear of business’ by passing on a range of advice – on what to do, as well as what not to do – in his new book ‘How Companies Really Grow’. The book contains real-life examples from Ciaran’s wide-ranging experience, having spent several decades working with entrepreneurs and as the director of a dozen companies, both UK- based and overseas, privately owned and Plc. “All my life I have been fascinated by the complexity of companies and studied and tested as many theories as possible,” he said.

Now that really is gorilla marketing!

Life-size gorilla sculptures in a host of different colours and designs are set to take to the streets of Bristol this summer in celebration of Bristol Zoo’s 175th birthday. Over 60 eye-catching sculptures, sponsored by organisations, businesses and charities from across the region, will form a mass public art event for 10 weeks from early July, as the highlight of the zoo’s birthday year. Dozens of local organisations have sponsored their own gorillas, which they have decorated in their own unique design. Called ‘Wow! Gorillas’, the sculptures aim to unite Bristol in a city-wide celebration of the zoo’s birthday, as well as encouraging civic pride and driving tourism to the city, while

increasing awareness of the threats facing gorillas and other apes in the wild. Mike Kemp, the zoo’s corporate development manager, said: “We have had a fantastic response from the local and

regional business community in supporting our wonderful ‘Wow! Gorillas’ project. “Hundreds of thousands of extra visitors will be attracted to the city this summer, generating a great buzz which will, in turn, benefit sponsors by increasing footfall to their premises.

“This will also help raise sponsors’ profile throughout the area and enhancing the company’s market penetration.”

Lifestyle company with real Zest

Bath-based Zest Concierge has certainly living up to its name recently. The lifestyle management company founded by Wendy Learoyd celebrated five years in business in May, a month made even more special by her marriage to partner Paul. The couple then spent their honeymoon climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, along with David Barnes from Bath Rugby and 40 others, raising money for Help for Heroes and RPA.

Zest has had a strong relationship with Bath Rugby, assisting all new players with their relocation, and helping their families to settle in to the local area.

That was the case for Bridget Whelan when her partner Dave Attwood signed as a new Lock for the club, but her involvement with Zest didn’t stop there – she has recently been appointed managing partner. “With my background in consultancy and project management, it seemed like a natural step to join the Zest Team,” she said.
