FINAL THOUGHT

Welcome GHBA's New COO! W

ith the departure of our government affairs superstar, Adam Aschmann, we were faced with two choices: find another government affairs

director in the middle of the legislative session; or restructure a little, have the OLD government affairs director (that would be me) take on the role and hire a new chief operating officer to take on many of the day-to-day responsibilities so that I can effectively handle government affairs. Fortunately for me (since government affairs is my passion) the leadership liked the second option and I have now found who may be the perfect person for the COO position.

Joshua Dick, formerly with NAHB, started May 2 with GHBA. Many of us are very familiar with Josh as he has facilitated our strategic planning on two occasions. I interacted with Josh fairly regularly when he was with NAHB. He was with NAHB from 2000 to 2010. The last two years he

was the executive director of the National Sales and Marketing Council. From 2003 till 2008, Josh was the director of Affiliate Services, directing the operations and relationships with the 800+ local associations. From 2000 to 2002, he was first a representative and then the director of Regional Field Operations, working with associations in eight states and 12 states respectively. Josh has extensive knowledge and experience in all things related to association management.

Prior to joining NAHB, Josh worked with the National Academy of Sciences and FEMA. He is fluent in German, having lived almost 20 years in a U.S. Military community in Heidelberg, Germany.

I have found Josh to be a great leader, team player and facilitator. He is a motivator and “plays well with others.” I am looking forward to all he brings to GHBA. Be sure to find him and say hello when you are here.
