REMODELORS COUNCIL NEWS Why Are YOU a Member?

P

eople typically join organizations like the Remodelors Council (RMC) and

GHBA for two primary reasons: 1) to learn something; and/or 2) to gain business. Many people stay in these organizations long after accomplishing one or both of those goals in order to give something back to the organization.

The GHBA Education Committee works hard to offer a wide spectrum of courses to benefit any and every member. Likewise, the RMC Speakers & Sponsors Committee, chaired by Maggie Medellin, has done a great job of bringing incredible speakers to our monthly luncheons, and planning the upcoming Vendor Showcase. We seek programs of interest to remodelers, but often have a broader appeal to anyone in any business.

I encourage you to make the most of your membership. Take courses; come to luncheons. Make an effort to get to know your colleagues in the council(s). Seek

out those who have been around for a while, and also attempt to meet a new member at every function you attend. Most importantly, support each other.

Perhaps the best opportunities to do so are coming up soon. The first is the Remodelors Council 2nd Annual Vendor Showcase, May 17 at St. Arnold’s Brewery. This mini-trade show allows smaller associate members to show their products/services. Thirty such associates will be exhibiting; remodelers and builders are encouraged to come out and get to know them while having a great time. Next BMC Building Materials will host our May networking and new member orientation on May 19. And they'll do so in style with a shrimp boil.

Last, the AIA Sandcastle Competition is June 4, and mark your calendar for the RMC Sandcastle pre-party on Friday, June 3. Hard to top for just plain fun! That’s three great opportunities to get to know each other. Don’t miss out!
