A St Mary’s pastoral carer, whom we shall name Lucky, put into practice his voluntary commitment by taking two elderly, genteel ladies shopping in his newly MOT’d car with brand new tyres.
Returning them to their home after an adventurous shopping spree, the ladies went to leave the car. However, gentleman that he is, Lucky insisted on escorting them to the threshold of their house, leaving his gleaming car parked immediately outside, in full view, on the busy highway.
Ensuring his elderly passengers were safely home, and after graciously accepting their generous and profuse thanks, Lucky turned to return to his car, but was rooted to the spot. He could not see it. Regaining his composure and thinking his eyes were playing tricks, Lucky slowly made his way towards where he had left it. Yes, the car had definitely gone AWOL.
Making his way home, silently lamenting the theft, he pondered
the procedure for reporting the loss. Wasting no time in informing all the interested parties, nothing more could be done but to sit back and await the outcome.

Reaching the end of the road without success, and about to give up his quest, he abruptly stopped, transfixed at the object before him. Was it or wasn’t it? With heart missing a beat and fearing it was wishful thinking, he closed in to make a detailed examination.
Whoopee!! Lucky had found his stolen car.
What followed is the stuff of fiction…
Days after Lucky lost his car, he endeavoured to deliver a pot of bulbs to a mutual friend, a gift from the two elderly, genteel ladies.
Forgetting the number of the house where the bulbs were to be delivered, Lucky travelled

After a quick phone call to a disbelieving Mr Plod, another to his beloved wife to bring the duplicate keys, and an examination of the vehicle to satisfy himself all was in order, a very happy Mr Lucky made for home, to relax and give thanks!
Incidentally, the bulbs were eventually delivered.
