anging from a zip line 40 feet above the forest fl oor among 800 year old cedars; staring
down the barrel of a rifl e while being held up by bandits on a steam train; or simply relaxing, bobbing up and down on your tube while you lazily fl oat down stream in the scorching sunshine. These are unforgettable memories avail- able to visitors or locals alike each sum- mer here in the Thompson Okanagan.
Hundreds of attractions, historical land- marks, beaches, wineries and orchards exist to entertain, inform and educate tourists or locals wishing to stay closer to home. Here are some unforgettable “gems” we think will stand out to create those lasting memories as you travel from north to south in the Thompson Okanagan.
The more daring may want to check out SkyTrek Adventure Park located 35 kilometres east of Sicamous on the Trans Canada Highway. This facility offers three adult high rope courses built in

the Monashee Mountain forest. The goal is to complete the courses that feature climbing ladders, nets, suspension bridges, swinging logs, and 7 zip lines. There is also an Adventure Tower, a climbing wall, a pirate net used by the Navy Seals to train, a kids high rope course and Jungle Gym play area for smaller children.
Take a nostalgic trip back to the 1950’s and 60’s at the Starlight Drive-in near Enderby. It is one of the last remaining drive-in movie theatres in Canada and boasts North America’s largest screen at 50 feet high and 120 feet wide. Admis- sion is just $9 an adult with double-head- er shows nightly until September 5th and weekends after that to October 10th.
If you prefer live performers on stage, the Caravan Farm Theatre in Armstrong is where you want to go. Professional actors from Toronto and Vancouver stay on the 80 acre farm 11 km. Northwest of Armstrong and will be performing a modern morality play titled “Every One” July 20th to August 22nd.
“We pride ourselves in bringing the cultural experience of live theatre to a diverse audience that may not normally see it in a rural atmosphere,” says artistic director Estelle Shook. “The plays are presented anywhere on the farm, in the corral, by a barn, in a fi eld.” There is maximum seating for 400 and prices average $32 per show.”
As you travel south to Vernon, you may want to visit Western Canada’s fi rst Craft Distillery, Okanagan Spirits. It is considered a “Master Class” distillery by the World
