keyboards on this record. It‘s the musical freedom to play what we want now.
Harriet: Sex on the radio and like it‘s her birthday are both really upbeat songs, is this the direction you‘re looking to go in now?
Billy: I don‘t know, we never say „ this is what it‘s supposed to sound like. „Sex on the radio“ wasn‘t even going to be on the album, but a guy heard it and said it has to be, it was meant to be a b-side. It was guy from our new record label, he made it a single too.
Harriet: Tat‘s good, it‘s a fun song. Fin- ding the fun in your life!
Billy: Yeah, it‘s similar to our other stuff though, there will be people who don‘t like it, but if you listen to all the radio stuff, read the reviews telling you, your older record was beter, we don‘t like your new stuff, you start thinking „ how can I make everybody happy?“
Harriet: You stop writing it for you!!!
Billy: Exactly! We said ok, let‘s be happy with music again, play what we want to and enjoy it. Ten years later it wouldn‘t really mater. You build up an exterior wall to bad reviews, sure I‘ll read them now, but when I was a kid I‘d read everything, because I wanted to know and some of it was deva- stating. Nowadays, I‘m married, I have a kid and now there are more important things in life. I go make music, and then I go home to be with my family. Your fans will call you out too if it‘s bullshit, they‘ll tell you it‘s not from the heart, like „you wrote that because you had to write that“.
Harriet: Tat‘s a good point of view to have, makes it more meaningful. So, anything weird happened on the tour so far?
Billy: Not weird really, we met all the bands, and we all watched the Superbowl last night
