Robert Lee “Bob” Carter Mars Hill - Robert Lee “Bob”


Carter, 73, of 6132 U.S. Hwy. 23, passed away Tursday, Feb. 10, 2011. He was a native of Madison County and a son of Robbie Carter Anderson and the late Vaughan Carter. Bob was employed with Madison County Health Depart- ment and later with the Buncombe County Adult Services. He gained the attention of the state division of health services regulations and became well known to all state agencies and area mental health programs as a state expert in regu- latory and licensure issues. He was a U.S. Army veteran. In addition to his mother he


is survived by a daughter, Sybil Carter; son, David Carter and wife Kathy; sister, Ruth Lennon and husband Max; brother, Ray Cart- er and Gladys Lance all of Mars Hill; grandchildren, Matt, Derek and Laura Carter, Robert Travis Hensley and Samuel Parton; great grandchildren, Rindie, Chloe, Brody and Jaxon Carter, Addison and Skyler Coates and his beloved dog, “Daisy.” Te funeral service was held at 2


pm on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011 at California Creek Baptist Church where he was the choir director which he loved dearly for over 30 years. Te Rev. Josh McDevitt officiated. Anderson, age 64, of 300 Paint Fork Road, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, following a good fight against can- cer.


Gerald was born Nov. 1, 1946, in


Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. He was former- ly employed at Buncombe County Garage and Harry’s Cadillac-Pon- tiac. Gerald loved to hunt, fish and walk in the mountains. He was a son of Jettie Lee Harwood Ander- son of Barnardsville and the late William D. Anderson. He was also preceded in death by his brother, T.J. Anderson. Surviving in addition to his


mother are his wife of more than 20 years, Carolyn Ray Ander- son; sister, Eloise Anderson Rice of Weaverville; brothers, Henry “Hank” Anderson and wife Glo- ria, William “Andy” Anderson and wife Cindy, and Jerry W. Ander- son, all of Barnardsville; 12 nieces and nephews, and 15 great nieces and nephews. His funeral service was held at

Wheeler, Sr. 81, passed away on Friday, Feb. 11, 2011. Mr. Wheeler was born July 26,


1929 in Madison County. He had lived in Buncombe County for most of his life and was a 32nd De- gree Mason and a member of Bald Creek Lodge #397. He enjoyed fishing and antique car shows. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Selma Fender Wheel- er; parents, Mattie Spence Wheeler and Ada Blankenship Wheeler; granddaughter, Belle Wheeler and brother, Sam L. Wheeler. Vance is survived by daughters,


Teresa (Tommy) Edmonds and Teresa (James) Rice; sons, Jimmy (Mary Ann) Wheeler, Eddie (Peg- gy) Wheeler, Vance Jr. (Melissa) Wheeler, Steve Davis and Randy (Krista) Davis; brothers, Zane (Faye) Wheeler and Douglas (Dor- othy) Wheeler; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
