varsity and middle school cheerlead- ers both topped the divisions in a state cheerleading competition. Te Erwin varsity girls have won the
competition a total of 10 years, and this was the ninth year in a row. Savannah Nesbitt, Vivan Oh and Tori Zhuravlev all were named All-Regional.

only two of them seniors. Tis year’s theme was all Elvis songs. “It’s an honor to keep the winning going. Tese girls work hard practicing three hours a day five days a week,” said coach Beth Lamb. Tis is her second year as coach and she has been coaching cheerleading for seven years. Te middle school team has partici- pated in the state competition for four
years. Tey won first place in 2008 and again this year. Te team placed second in 2008 and 2009. Tere are 18 girls on the team with only four returning from last year. “It has been a tough year but they
pulled together and did their thing. I am extremely proud of them. Tey are such a young team and many of them have never cheered before,” said coach Christine Burrell.
