MONTGOMERY CO. DIVISION NEWS
Poised for Recovery T
he winter freezes have finally begun to thaw, and there are budding opportunities
everywhere we look this spring. Lenders are talking with builders and developers again, home starts have ticked upward for the year, and potential buyers are shopping around. All these things sound great, right?
These things are great, but there should be one thing at the forefront of everyone’s mind this season. It is 2011, and our State Legislature is in session! Our industry is delicately balanced for a recovery, and it is imperative we all get involved to continue moving in the right
direction. We all know the decisions made in Austin have a lasting impact on the long term successes of the Housing Industry.
The GHBA provides its members the platform to communicate on important issues with our legislators. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for “hot” items popping up this session, and don’t be afraid to get involved. We are gathering momentum towards a full recovery in the Houston housing market. Get motivated! Together we can influence the outcome towards a greater success.
About the Council: The Multifamily Council represents the specific interests of builders, developers, building owners, architects, engineers and managers. The council advocates for legislative initiatives that support all size and types of condominiums and rental apartments. They work to eliminate regulatory barriers that drive up the cost of multifamily housing. The council promotes the benefits of green building, safety and higher density housing in providing a wide range of housing choices along with smarter approaches to growth and the revitalization of urban areas across the country.
