Residents asked how to spend £350K Town Talk
alk
SNODLAND residents are being asked how they would like to spend £350,000. The money has become available for new com- munity facilities as a result of a Section 106 Agreement, which was part of the planning permission to build the Berkeley Homes de- velopment at Holborough Lakes. The town council is suggesting that the community centre be im- proved and extended but wants to hear the views of residents be- fore making a decision. The community centre was extended recently with the addition
of a gymnasium for Saracens Weight Training Club and the ama- teur boxing club. The proposal is to extend the building into the car park with a
new main entrance, social club/bar and toilets. Enlarged facilities for field sports and additional changing rooms are planned and a patio outside the bar area. A drawing is on show in the centre. If residents have any suggestions they should complete a survey
form or email the town council office. The community centre was built 24 years ago and the association
has four years left on its lease. The town council is offering a new 30-year lease. Association president Linda Howick said: “The trustees of SCA
will be meeting with the management committee in the next cou- ple of weeks to discuss the plans for the community centre in de- tail and to make recommendations about the best way to proceed.”

TOWNSEND Hook Bowls Club’s new green and changing rooms will be officially opened on May 30. The turf at the club’s new
home at Potyns Sportsground was laid in November and the building of accommodation was due to start as Town Talk went to press. The club lost its ground at the sports field near Snodland railway station when Smurfit Kappa Townsend Hook sold the land for housing devel- opment. The club has been of- fered a 30-year lease at a peppercorn rent of £1 by the town council as the club has full responsibility for mainte-
part in a 30-minute question and answer sessionwith the ac- tors afterwards. The musical aims to show children that graffiti is not cool, harms the environment and costs a fortune to clean up. Cllr Murray said: “This inno-
vative way of getting the anti- graffiti message across to children was well received by them. The play was exciting to watch with the key messages brilliantly put across.”
