appy New Year! I think 2011 is likely to throw a few challenges to all of us and judging from the range of predictions sent into me in December (see page 12), those of you at the forefront of property in all sectors, you seem to agree. However, there is always bad news; successful happy people acknowledge the bad


news and get on with making their own good news (or so I am told!), so perhaps that should be our New Year Resolution – we will make good news! Lots of it! Now the parties are over, let’s get down to business and make it work in 2011. The great thing about this industry is its variety; sales, lettings, auctions, commerical,


residential, land and new homes, relocation, mortgages, conveyancing and a host of associated businesses like furnishing, management, taxation, legal support, inventories, insurances, referencing, energy assessment... it’s an endless list. We kick off the New Year with features on a new generation of skyscrapers in London that


are taking the Capital’s skyline to new heights, another that goes rather more out of town to discuss Localism and planning and another on the future for property developers – there’s a bit of a theme going on there! On a more practical note, we have investigated the opportunities in outsourcing; which is, in


a nutshell, getting someone else to do your work! Sounds like a great idea to me! Useful for all letting agents who feel they are overworked and see another hard year ahead. Don’t grumble – give some of these people a call and see how cost effective it can be!


The glass is always half full in this office, so here’s to a successful New Year!
