pacific WE ARE BACK !!!

It does sound like the refrain from a movie, but in this case it really means the magazine “SculpturesPacific” is reincarnated. We intend to produce lively discussions on the making of sculpture in the Pacific Northwest, that includes north from Portland Oregon to Vancouver B.C. and west to Regina, Saskatchewan.

Our intention is to bring mainstream and undiscovered artists in this footprint area to the attention of fellow sculptors, art appreciators, academics and private and public art galleries. As well we will feature sculptors from other lands. We intend to inform, discuss, critique, and create lively discussion from differing points of view and present old and new forms of sculpture making.

This first issue will provide information and clarity around the issues of public art as seen from the perspective of various public art programs from Seattle, Washington to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Each public arts program has authored its own submission which should illustrate the nature and character of the organization. Sculptors may find new ways of making submissions based on these articles; art appreciators may find new sculpture to appreciate, and academics interested in public art will have a wealth of information collected all in one place.

Our international artist featured in this edition, Hassan Kamel, is an internationally recognized Egyptian sculptor with whom I worked at a sculpture symposium in the Czech Republic a few years ago.

We hope you enjoy this first E-edition and all the ones to come. All the best from your editorial team!
