Terry Wayne Owen Leicester - Terry Wayne Owen,


48, of Snowy Orchid Road, Leic- ester, died on Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, at the John F. Keever Hos- pice Solace Center. A native of Buncombe County,


Mr. Owen was a son of Alfred Owen, and of the late Elizabeth Louise Sams Owen. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Sherry Owen; brother, Eugene Owen; and brother-in-law, David Muether. Mr. Owen had worked with the


Asheville Housing Authority. He enjoyed fishing and NASCAR rac- ing. Owen is survived by his wife,


Tamara Lynn Ledford Owen; sons, Brandon Owen and wife, Heather, Terry Owen and wife, Cassie, Benny Hoffman, and Ste- ven Owen; sisters, Sheila Owen, and Tammy Muether; six grand- children, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Owen


will be held at 11 am on Thurs- day, Nov. 18, 2010, at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Avenue, with the Rev. Ricky San- ford and the Rev. Mike McGuire officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. His family received friends from


7 pm to 8:30 pm on Wednes- day, Nov. 17, 2010, at the funeral home. Mr. Owen’s family wishes to

Bettie Bradley Cobb Weaverville - Bettie Brad-


ley Cobb, born March 13, 1925, passed away suddenly on Sun- day, Nov. 14, 2010. Ms. Cobb resided most of her


life in Buncombe County, and retired in 1989 from BellSouth in Charlotte. She enjoyed her retire- ment near her children in Weaver- ville. She was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church. Ms. Cobb was the daughter of


the late Pearl Tipton Gunter and William Tipton. She was also pre- ceded in death by George Estes Bradley, husband and father of their four daughters; her sec- ond husband, Lloyd Cobb; and a brother, June Tipton. Surviving are her daughters,


Geraldine Cole (Roy) of Weaver- ville, Maxine Penley of Weaver- ville, Lorraine Clemmons (Ronnie) of Raleigh, and Colleen Austin (Jerry) of Marco Island, Fla.; sev- en loving grandchildren, Bobby, Tina, Jackie, Tammie, Ben, Julie and Jennifer; 10 great-grandchil- dren; three great-great grand- sons; and three sisters, Bonnie Swann and Jean Aimone, both of Black Mountain, and Cora Burrell of Leicester.

Jerry Dewyatt Hensley, Sr. Leicester - Jerry Dewyatt Hen-


sley Sr., 62, of 54 Jones Road, passed away at his home sur- rounded by his loving family on Friday, Nov. 12, 2010. Mr. Hensley was born Nov. 22,


1947 in Buncombe County to the late Dora Mae Stinnette Hens- ley and the late Clinton Hensley. He had been a resident of Hay- wood County and had made his home most recently in Buncombe County since 2002. Mr. Hensley was a retired United States Ma- rine Corps Veteran proudly serv-

ing in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart along with sev- eral other medals, ribbons, and commendations for his valor. He had served as president of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 124 of Asheville, was a lifetime member of VFW Post 891 and was also a former member of the Asheville Moose Lodge. Mr. Hensley was an avid NASCAR and drag racing fan. Jerry will be deeply missed and he will always be remembered as one of The Few and The Proud. He was preceded in death by


the mother of his children and wife, Linda Lloyd Hensley. Surviving are his loving wife,

Bor Nisbeth, 28, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010. Rachel was the beloved daughter of Marcy and David Nis- beth of Weaverville, where she


grew up. She is also survived by her two


children, Adrian and Kaylannie (Kay), and her life partner, Paula Argoe. She is also survived by her sister Katrina Morgan of Wash- ington, D.C., and brother-in-law, Allan, their two children, and her brother, Benjamin Nisbeth (wife Brandie) of Marshall. She had two nephews and one niece. Rachel had suffered many


years with bipolar disorder, a dis- abling illness that affects more than people are aware of. A memorial service was held


Oct. 22, 2010 and her ashes were scattered at one of her favorite places. Memorial donations may be


made to the Weaverville Police Department’s “Cops for Kids” or to ABCCM. She will be greatly missed and


was loved by so many. She had a kind heart and loved her fam- ily dearly. We thank all of her friends, especially her pastor, the Rev. Chrystal Cook for their faith and love for her. Asheville Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.

ville, Tenn., and was a daughter of the late Edward and Eller Eudy Helms. She was married to Leslie D. Taylor, who died in 1991. She formerly worked at Beacon Mfg. and she was a member at Emma’s Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by two sisters,


Pauline Wilson and her husband, Larry, of Leicester and Agnes Lanning of Old Fort; a brother, Floyd Helms and his wife, Bertha, of Rock Hill, SC; and many nieces and nephews. The graveside service was at
