Woodfin Red Thread Counseling offers help during life transitions

By Matt Tate Te idea of a red thread is found

in several religious texts. Essentially, the ancient symbol represents a spir- itual connection humans have with the people and places around them and how threads can become tan- gled, stretched and strained as life progresses through various stages. Laura Haas at Red Tread Coun-

seling in Woodfin said her services are designed to help others navigate through common life transitions. “My counseling is for normal

people going through normal every- day practices,” she said. Haas offers short-term packages such as five sessions on life manage-

ment. People often deal with a new baby, go through a career crisis or experience other transitions without seeking any outside help, a process Haas believes is a repercussion of the lack of support systems for many in a fast-paced society. “We always have red threads

around us but don’t always use them,” she said. “We aren’t meant to handle life transitions on our own.” Haas, who also works at Next Step

Recovery in Weaverville, opened her business at Healing Sensations in the Stone Ridge Business Park. Donna Marie Ortuno at Healing

Sensations said she is trying to cre- ate a community of wellness at her business by collaborating with those in related fields.
