Leicester Zaxby’s coming to Leicester

dining on Leicester Highway this April. Te new Leicester Landing shopping center located beside CVS is going to have a Zaxby’s. Franchise owner Gary Avants is
opening his eighth franchise loca- tion on Leicester Highway. He is no stranger to running restaurants. He has been a Zaxby’s franchisee since 1997. He is also the owner of the two other Zaxby’s restaurants in Asheville. His son, Jordan, is the manager
of the Tunnel Road location and his daughter, Melissa, is the man- ager at the Hendersonville Road restaurant. “It is a family business, and I
want my children to be partners in the new restaurants,” he said. His other locations are in Georgia and Alabama. “It is the worst time of the year
to be building but we are shooting to open the first of April. It nor- mally takes 120 days after breaking ground to open for business,” said Avants. He has contracted with Zaxby’s
to build four additional stores in Buncombe County. Te next loca- tion he plans to open in the third quarter of 2011 is in Weaverville. “I want to be active and part of
the community and plan to give back and support the local schools,” he added. Zaxby’s is a growing franchise
with more than 500 locations in 12 states. Tey are known for their fresh chicken fingers, Buffalo style wings and fresh salads.
Zaxby’s is scheduled to open this spring. “We are excited to have a qual-
ity franchise opening in the area. We want to have convenient facili- ties for the Leicester residents,” said David Ledford, the developer of Leicester Landing. It is a 16,000 square foot building
with two other businesses currently operating, the Tailgait Market pet

store and US Cellular. “We have a pending contract on
the 5,000 square foot space in the center of the existing complex,” said Ledford. Tere are six acres of prop- erty and Ledford plans to build an- other 25,000 square foot complex on the property offering more retail and office space.
