Setting her sights for 2010 on qualifying for the Taylor Harris Insurance Services Medal Fi- nals (THIS), Molly, her parents and the staff at Far West Farms made plans and schedules to give her that opportunity. Not only did she qualify, she was the TOP West Coast qualifier! Now the adjustment of plans as everyone shifted into gear to make the trek back east to take a shot at the Fi- nals. The “experience” was the discussion, but deep in the heart and mind of a competitor, Molly set her goal on being in the top of it.

to compete, it became a group adventure as people, family and friends, signed up to go along. Traveling with two Far West barn mates, Hannah Stabler and

Never having been back east

Alicia Gasser, her mother Susie, her Grandmother Patricia, Jenny Karazissis and Cassandra Karaz- issis, the entourage excitement took on a life of its own. Far West riders seem to have

a common thread among them, the ability to focus and concen- trate under high pressure situa- tions. Molly is one of those rid- ers, able to keep her focus, con- centration and nerves in check when most riders tend to “lose it” a bit. Never wavering from her sights set on the top of the class, she was Reserve Champion in the THIS National Children’s Medal division in the days lead- ing up to the BIG THIS Finals on Sunday. Sunday dawned, along with the

excitement of competition that put butterflies in the stomachs

olly Peddicord is 15 years old but her birthday put her in the 14 and under category for 2010. She is friendly, pleas- ant and driven in every sense of the word, setting goals and striving to accomplish them. She is not prone to changing a

of even the best. Keeping her nerves in check and her focus on the task, her 1st round was excel- lent with 90's, 88, 88, 87 and 85, to bring her average to 87.9. Returning for the second

round, Molly rode like a veteran, maintaining her consistency and her scores were over the top! She finished with scores so far ahead that the judges did require a work off. It was surreal for them, and it was amazing for this west coast contingency. Happily, missing their flight

on Sunday night, Molly and her entourage had time to just en- joy the victory over dinner. The flight home was a chance to fi- nally take in what had happened in the east, a young west coast rider had made them sit up and take notice!
