Spiced pear and orange chutney to go with the ham... This is a lovely accompaniment to the ham either hot or cold. It is not
technically a chutney as it doesn’t have enough sugar content for it to be stored for a long period, but it will certainly keep, covered, for two to three weeks in the fridge. It is best served slightly warm when eaten with the cold ham, gently re-heat it. For a written recipe, click here.
Ingredients: A little light oil 1 large onion peeled and sliced into rings 2 small seedless oranges 2-3 small pears (Conference pears are good and they keep their shape well) 2 tbsp dark brown sugar 150ml (¼ pt) fresh orange juice ½ tsp cinnamon
100 g (4 oz) fresh or frozen cranberries 1-2 tbsp red wine vinegar to taste
