Gobble Gobble Race Is Going Green
T
he 15th annual Gobble Gobble Four-Miler Thanksgiving Morning
Run is embracing green initiatives this year, in an effort to reduce waste and promote sustainability. More than 2,000 competitors are expected to line up at the starting line at 7:30 a.m., No- vember 25, at The Village on Venetian Bay, in Naples. The race benefits St. Matthew’s House, a local nonprofit that provides housing and food to the
homeless and needy. Hit the Donate button on the
GobbleGobbleFourMiler.com homepage to start your own fundraising team, or earn a free entry to the race for every $100 you donate. Race Co-Director Matthew Sonneborn says this year’s event will be the first
cup-free race in Florida by utilizing HydraPour and HydraPouch technology. Run- ners will receive HydraPouches—small, reusable containers to drink from along the course—and can use HydraPour valves that connect to water coolers along the way that dispense six ounces per second. Additional green initiatives being implemented are the use of solar panels to
power the race, conducting race registration online and emailing race information to reduce paper usage, offering public transportation and carpooling options and distributing race T-shirts made of organic cotton.
Location: the north side of The Village, 4200 Gulf Shore Blvd. N. For more info, includ- ing the location of this year’s new course, and to register, visit GobbleGobbleFourMiler. com.
