Woodfin Parkers Karat Patch celebrates 30 years Te festive billboard on Weaver-

ville Road sums it up succinctly. Parkers’ Karat Patch in Woodfin

is celebrating 30 years of business this month, and owners Steve and Linda Parker are offering some of their best sales ever to celebrate. Te Parkers opened their jewelry

store in 1980, the same year gold and silver prices were hitting record highs. “I was just too ignorant of the market to realize that I had picked

the wrong time to start a jewelry business,” Steve quipped. Te business continued to grow

every year and in 1997, the own- ers purchased their property at 311 Weaverville Road from Norman Stephens, owner of Stephens’ Up- holstery, and remodeled the 1938 rock structure. “At that point we were just about

the only jewelry store north of Asheville so we laughingly dubbed ourselves, ‘North Asheville’s favor-

ite jeweler,’” Steve said. Beginning Tursday (Sept. 9),

the store is holding its best store- wide jewelry sale ever with special events and prize drawings through- out the month. Steve said he looks forward to a

second generation continuing the business, developing new ideas and incorporating new technology. But, most of all, he is appreciative of the memories. “We would like to thank the

friends, customers, fellow jewelers, and all of our employees through the years, who helped us along this journey. We couldn’t have done

it alone. We’ve been blessed,” he added.
