North Buncombe Erwin defeats BlackHawks in NBYAA The North Buncombe Black-
Hawks came up short against Erwin on Saturday (Sept. 11) in North Buncombe Youth Athlet- ic Association football action. David Metts scored twice for
the Midgets, but the Black- Hawks lost 36-12. Mason Ed- wards and Dillon Pressley also contributed several good runs. North Buncombe outscored Erwin 12-6 in the second half thanks to several strong defen- sive stands, but coach Bill Beck
said, “You have to play four quarters if you want to compete with [Erwin].” Joe Jones and Adam Metts
had some nice runs and Micah Wilson came up with several key defensive tackles, but the Warriors blanked the Termites 20-0. The Mites lost 44-16, and the
Pups played hard in their loss to Erwin.

Aabani announces new staff Aabani salon and spa, located at
12 N. Main St. in Weaverville, an- nounces the addition of three new members to its staff. Jenni Cooper joined Aabani as
a stylist in May of this year after working in south Florida for 27 years. She specializes in advanced color techniques, color correction and fine hair cutting and styling. “I have a passion for hair and helping guests look and feel their best” she said. “I believe listening to my cli- ents and understanding what they
want is of upmost importance.” Cooper has had extensive edu-
cation with artists such as Jingles, Paul Mitchell, Chadwicks, Fraone- si, and Schwarzkopf. She has used this knowledge to build a growing client base at Aabani. Lois Chazen is a new stylist who
is best known for her scissor tech- niques that create volume with fine hair and also eliminate bulk with- out using thinning shears. She is a two-time salon owner, her first in Coconut Grove, Fla., and an Aveda
salon in Sebring, Fla. She works to create hairstyles that
are versatile and reflect the lifestyles of her clients and has worked with many celebrities. She is experienced with Aveda products and will guide clients to the perfect hairstyle, col- or, and makeover experience. Ac- cording to Chazen, “Achieving the ultimate gift of the perfect hairstyle involves truly understanding the needs of the client. It’s important to create something that works with their hair and lifestyle.” Aabani also welcomes a new
nail technician, Sharon Pack, who is originally from northern Bun- combe County and a graduate of North Buncombe High School and Asheville-Buncombe Techni- cal Community College. Pack is client-oriented and offers a variety of nail embellishment services. She is familiar with reflexology tech- niques and offers massages with her calm, relaxing manicures and pedicures.
