Weaverville Rotary Club tips hats to emergency personnel
By Matt Tate When a little old lady needs a
hand crossing a street or when a cat wanders up a tree without an escape route, they are there. And when lives are on the line
and every fleeting second counts, they are there as well. Te Rotary Club of Weaver-
ville took some time out Sept. 8 to recognize the area’s fire and po- lice departments for the wealth of protection and services they offer residents. “Tis community is very, very
impressed and thankful for the services,” Rotary Club member
THE ONLY
Mark Sisinyak told the emergency personnel attending the club’s an- nual breakfast honoring their ef- forts. John Witherspoon, a retired bat-
talion chief from the Asheville Fire Department, said the American culture expects rapid response time in emergency situations, and the manner in which the police and fire department personnel execute and perform is to be commended. Witherspoon discussed the new
public safety training center that will be built in Woodfin as an ex- cellent future resource for firemen and policemen to hone their skills. Sunnyside Café in Weaverville provided breakfast.
