OUR STORY
The Weirs Times was first published in 1883 by Mathew H. Calvert. The newspaper, then named Calvert’s Weirs Times and Tourists’ Gazette, was published until Mr. Calvert’s death in 1902.
One of the most remarkable features of the publication was a map of Lake Winnipesaukee which occupied the center spread of the paper. Readers will find the same map reprinted on the center pages of this, and every issue.
The new Weirs Times was re-established in 1992 and strives to maintain the patriotic spirit of its predecessor as well as his devotion to the interests of Lake Winnipesaukee and vicinity.
GOOD STUFF
Locally owned for over 17 years, this publication is devoted to printing the stories of the people and places that make New Hampshire the best place in the world to live. No, none of the daily grind news will be found in these pages, just the good stuff.

Community Garden Club’s Tea Party
To The Editor: Thursday, Sept. 16th,
the Meredith Bay Colony Club welcomed the Com- munity Garden Club of Meredith members and guests to the “Tea and Floral Symphony”. Hats and gloves were optional! Lea, from Your Neigh- borhood Florist, shared insider tips for selecting, showcasing, and preserv- ing floral arrangements. She created two lovely seasonal displays while answering questions from the audience. One ar- rangement was used as a door prize and the other was donated to the mem- bers at MBCC. All guests enjoyed the beautiful sur- roundings, floral demon- stration, and tea party. Tours of Meredith Bay
Colony Club, the newest active senior and retire- ment facility in the Lakes Region, were available for guests. The Community Garden
Club, founded in 1951, is grateful for the warm hospitality. Our volun- teers tend gardens in and about Meredith such as the Meredith Town Hall, the Chamber of Com- merce, the Meredith His- torical Society perennial garden, the triangle at the corner of Pleasant Street and Route #25, and the Meredith Community Center Garden. In the past, the Garden
Club has supported the Altrusa Festival of Trees, CHMM Community Care- givers, The Circle Program, the Community Center Garden Project, the First Congregational Church of Meredith, the Lakes Re-
gion Conservation Trust, the Center Harbor, Mere- dith, and Moultonborough Libraries, the Page Pond and Forest Conservation Campaign, and awarded local scholarships. Thank you, Meredith
Bay Colony Club and wel- come to our community!

Send Conservatives to Washington
To The Editor: Representative Paul
Hodes, who is running for the U.S. Senate, is attempting to desert his past as an ultra liberal politician. He claims to be a fiscal conservative, but he has voted for the poli- cies of the Pelosi/Reid/ Obama liberal, big spend- ing triumvirate 93% of the time. Mr. Hodes voted for the
failed $787 billion dollar stimulus package, the bailout of the banks and AIG, the $1 trillion dollar Obama healthcare pro-

gram and a $1.5 trillion dollar deficit. He has ac- tively supported Pelosi’s and Obama’s huge spend- ing programs for the pre- vious two years, and he is complicit in promoting big government policies. Paul Hodes realizes the
American people are fed up with the policies and programs of the Obama administration, which have provided huge defi- cits and high unemploy- ment. He is attempting to distance himself from his fellow Democrats because he knows the winds of change are about to sweep him and his cohorts out of office in November. We need true FISCAL
conservatives (Democrats, Republicans or Indepen- dents) in Washington, D.C. to reduce the size of our bloated federal gov- ernment, eliminate our deficit, reduce business taxes, and create Ameri- can jobs to approach a full employment economy.
