Throughout the year, NYTW’s Public Programs successfully provided our community with opportunities for exploration of the themes and questions raised by NYTW’s theatrical productions.
Panel Discussions
During the 2009-2010 Season, NYTW organized a series of discussions to complement each of our productions, featuring artists and scholars in conversations that explored the plays’ aesthetic, historical and/or political contexts.
AfterWords
Designed to provoke further thought and dialogue about the production and artistic process, NYTW’s popular AfterWords post-performance discussions gave audience members the chance to participate in open conversations with members of the cast and creative team. NYTW facilitated talkbacks after every performance of Aftermath and two to three times for every other production this Season. NYTW also streamed recorded excerpts from our Public Programs on our website throughout the year.
Discounted Ticket Initiatives
In addition to these public forums for dialogue, NYTW continued its flagship discounted ticket initiative: CheapTix Sundays, offering every audience member our regularly priced $65 tickets for $20 to every Sunday night perfor- mance. A Community Ticket Program provided discounted or free tickets to individuals with limited income and our Volunteer Usher Program gave people the opportunity to usher a production and stay for the performance at no cost.
