of our Zoll heart monitors were the M se- ries except for one E series monitor. Our Zoll field representative sent me a data ca- ble and once I downloaded the data in the heart monitor into the TabletPCR®
soft-
ware. I then submitted the PCR to the RescueNet®
Review software that is part of the Res- cueNet®
server and opened the Code
software suite and was able to re- play my entire 12-lead Electrocardiogram (EKG) and even see the soft-key inputs on the monitor where I had indicated that I had done a procedure, such as placing an endotrachial tube or given a particular drug, to the patient. As the EMS Captain this data was invaluable! This allowed me to literally walk through a cardiac arrest case to ensure quality assurance and to provide quality improvement thus im- proving patient outcomes.
Currently we have six Toughbook® se-
ries computers. Chief Brown and Captain Doyle Campbell, who is the Fire Mar- shall, use the Toughbook®
for pre-plan- ning and inspections that are done through
Firehouse®
a Toughbook®
software. Each ambulance has and a printer to print the
PCR at the Emergency Room. When a shift begins the Paramedic and their part- ner can login to TabletPCR®
and setup
their shift information and provide their signatures. The shift information includes the unit number, the shift (A, B, or C), and the crew member names and signatures, up to three. The Toughbook®
is then
placed into sleep mode so that the boot- up time is reduced and the Paramedic can begin entering the information regarding the call on the way to the scene such as the address. Once the call is completed the times are placed into the PCR and the PCR is synchronized with the RescueNet® server and the PCR is cleared from the list of PCR’s. If needed, the data can be downloaded from the heart monitor and attached to the PCR within the Tablet- PCR®
software. In the near future we will be upgrading to the newest RescueNet® software suite. Toughbook®
