The company had its humble beginnings in a Canadian cart and buggy shop, where the Demers family was already manufacturing funeral hearses and ambulances. Today, Demers is the oldest continuous ambu- lance manufacturer in North America.
1800s
> Beginning in 1892, the Demers family provides custom-built buggies, carriages, hearses, ambulances, and casket wagons to a pre-automotive-era Canada
1960
> Paul Demers establishes ‘Paul Demers et Fils Incorporated’ as an independent ambulance manufacturer – they will do business under the recognized name of Demers Ambulances.
> Facilities quadruple in size between 1967-1971
1974
> Demers wins their first international order for Latin America
1975-1990 > Delivery of more than 1,600 ambulances to the Middle East by 1979
> Square footage tripled due to growing demand
1990-2005
> First order received from Northern Africa
> Delivery of the 10,000th unit > Demers Ambulances introduced to the American market
