Part-time hobby becomes full-time job

morphed into a career. Martha Young said she was look-


ing for something different when she began making soy candles in 2006 under the name My Father’s Light. Four years later, she has a new


store and career to boot. My Father’s Light opened re-


cently in Woodfin, carrying Young’s homemade candles, as well as lip balms, lotions, soap and bath enhancers made by Young. In addition, she carries infant and children’s gifts, prints, jewelry and books from area artists and au- thors. Young started bringing her can-


dles to retail shows and fundraisers several years ago. As word spread, she realized she was forging a new path in her life. “I saw that I could make money


doing it, so I ran with it,” she said. Te location in the Town and
