Monday (July 26) with a meet-and- greet dinner Sunday (July 25) Capt. Trey Young said as a fire-

fighter he gets to see first-hand the impact the Red Cross has in the

community. “We are excited to have the op-

portunity to give back to the or- ganization,” he said. “We can help them as they help others in the community.” Venture Sports Shows is present-

ing the tournament and bringing a number of former professional ath- letes such as NASCAR driver John McFadden and former NFL players Chris Powell and William Andrews to Reems Creek Golf Club for the event. Venture President Doug Reed

started the company 20 years ago in Atlanta and has attracted more than 800 celebrities to charity events for

various fire and police departments and non-profits. Spots are still available for Mon-

day’s tournament. Participation is $125 per person and $500 per team. Reed said he hopes each of the 32 teams will be paired with a celebrity, and each celebrity will be available for photographs and auto- graphs. Sunday night’s dinner will be at

the Fireplace Restaurant in Wood- fin. Live auctions with everything from sports memorabilia to items donated from local North Bun- combe businesses will be available for bid.
