ily and friends to a Celebration of David’s life to be held Sunday Aug. 1, 2010 which would have been David’s 68th birthday. The celebration will be held from 1 pm until 6 pm (or later) at David’s past residence of 7 Elk Mountain Place in Woodfin. Please contact Scott Allen at

Whitaker, 83, of Weaverville, died on Sunday, July 11, 2010, at the Brian Center. A native of Buncombe County,
Ms. Whitaker was a daughter of the late Leonard W. and Mary Dotson Whitaker. She was also preceded in
death by her sister, Martha Da- vis. She is survived by her brother,
Henson Whitaker and wife Jean, of Mars Hill; one nephew, one niece, and two great-nieces. A private service will be held at

Paul “Baldy” Rene’ Shelton Weaverville - Paul “Baldy”
Rene’ Shelton, 47, 113 Ox Creek Road, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at his residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County and the son of Blanche Deweese Shelton and the late Clyde Shelton. Surviving in addition to his
mother is his daughter, LaTonya Blanche Shelton of Texas; son Brandon Shelton of Weaver- ville; sisters, Wanda Poteat of Asheville, and Shirley Carver of Dallas, NC; brother Randy Shel- ton of Asheville; grandson Devon Shelton and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held

Madness” will be held at 8 pm on Sunday (July 25) at First Presby- terian Church in Weaverville. The concert will feature Men-
delssohn’s Piano Trio No. 1 in d minor, op. 49 and Octet in Eb major, op. 20. Suggested dona- tions are $10 for adults and $5 for students and children. The second concert is entitled
“Tremendous Trios.” It will begin at 3 pm Aug. 8 at a private home setting in Asheville. Tickets are $30 and seating is extremely limited. Kara Poorbaugh, viola; Franklin Keel, cello; Dr. Dan- iel Weiser, piano will perform Brahms’ Clarinet Trio in A ma-

Ruby Lee Gambill Boone Weaverville – Ruby Lee Gam-
bill Boone, age 79, of Weaver- ville went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 15, 2010. She was born Jan. 31, 1931,
in Madison County. Ruby was the daughter of the late Edd and Ollie Coates. She is also preceded in death by her hus- band, Walter James Gambill, Jr., who died in 1997; a sister, Shelby Jean Ackerman; broth- ers, Claude Richard and James Hershel; and two half sisters, Arnon Dupee and Magdella Rhymer. Ruby spent much of her time
in real estate and in later years got her degree in nursing at St. Joseph Hospital in Asheville. Ruby was a member of Celebra- tion Church in Weaverville. Surviving are her husband,
Charles Boone of Weaverville; sisters, Helen Worley and hus- band Kenneth of Asheville, Wilma Hughes and husband J.D. of Oteen; brothers, E.J. and wife Genevieve of Marshall, Ray Donald and wife Jane of Fletcher; sister-in-laws, Virginia Coates of Marshall and Cynthia Coates of Enka; brother-in-law,
John Ackerman of Hixon, Tenn.; and several nieces and neph- ews. Her funeral service was held
at 2 pm on Sunday, July 18, 2010, in the Chapel of West Fu- neral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Revs. Tom Lo- max and Jeff Wilkie officiating. Burial was in West Memorial Park. The family received friends
from 5 pm to 7 pm on Satur- day, July 17, 2010, at the funeral home. Flowers were acceptable and
