READERSLives

Favourite radio programme? Hawksby & Jacob’s on Talk Sport; One Size Fitz Hall, live Escalado, football banter, it’s brilliant.

Favourite place, here and abroad? Cornwall has some great places. But, in all honesty, my favourite place is Bristol. I’m a local lad and I love it. C’mon the Gas !!!

Who are you? Joe Hendy Where do you work? British Seed Houses.

How long have you been working in your post/industry? 10 years What car do you drive? Volkswagon Golf.

Personal status? Engaged to a very beautiful lady, Louise. I am clearly punching above my weight - and there’s a lot of that!

Hobbies/pastimes? Saturday is football day…… once I’ve done the shopping. I read about it in the morning, play it in the afternoon, then it’s in the bar to watch the scores roll in. Also, we recently moved away from the family area, so most of our free time is spent either visiting or being visited.

The nicest place I’ve been abroad was Lake Tahoe, in Nevada, USA. The water in the lake is from the melted snow from the surrounding mountains, so it’s crystal clear. Even at its deepest point you can see all the way to the bottom. It’s the lake they used in The Godfather Movie.

Favourite TV programme? For a long time it was The Sopranos, although I must say Prison Break has mounted a serious challenge.

Tastes in Music? Loads, from Kings of Leon, Foo Fighters, Black Rebel Motor Cycle Club and Oasis to Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty and The Beatles.

What was the first record you ever bought? Bruce Springsteen Live 75 - 85.

Favourite Film? The Godfather (although last night I watched A Fistful of Dollars, that’s quality).

Favourite Comedian? Steve Coogan. Favourite Food? Anything that comes out of our

slow cooker. It’s like a magic pot, you can stick anything in there and eight hours later it’s fit for a king.

Favourite Sport? Football, although I am a bit of a sport junkie. I will watch anything, especially if England can win at it. For example I’ve been supporting the England rugby team for nearly four years now, however by the time this gets to print I have a sneaking suspicion I will have stopped.

Pet Hates? Dogs…. and hamsters.

Most memorable event in your life? When my fiancé told me she was pregnant, but that was only 20 weeks ago, so it’s still nice and fresh in the memory.

What is the funniest thing to have happened to you at work? When a seagull flew under my car on the motorway. I was sad for a second then, when I looked in my rear view mirror, there was a puff of feathers in the air, like in the cartoons. It’s not laugh out loud funny, and there was a fatality, but I had a smile.

Who would you like most to meet? Al Pacino.

What changes would you like to see in our industry? I’d like to see the big shows run biennially. All companies would exhibit, and attendance figures would increase, improving quality and validity of the shows.
