Adventure Holiday 2010

A Life without Limits Adventure Holiday 2010

From Sunday 8 - Friday 13 August 2010, Cornwall Blind Association is giving visually impaired youngsters the chance to experience the extreme side of life with a holiday jam-packed full of exciting activities. With surfi ng, body boarding, rock climbing, abseiling and mountain boarding there is an adventure for everyone.

The week is designed to help build confi dence by showing the youngsters just how much they can achieve and to create friendships that will last beyond the holiday and into the future. Activities during the evenings include fancy dress, talent nights, karaoke and fi ve-a-side football. It’s an opportunity for the kids to discover everything they are capable of, challenge their perceived limits and to have as much fun as possible with people their own age.

Helping Cornwall Blind

Association provide this opportunity is Adventure International, a multi- activity centre in Bude, North Cornwall. The centre was originally the Grenville Hotel built in 1909, one of Bude’s most historic and prominent buildings.

While the activities may seem challenging for children with sight loss, they are fully risk assessed, and help the children to reassess their own opinions of what they are capable of achieving. The staff are specifi cally trained in supporting children with disabilities, and the site itself is well-equipped to cope with complex individual needs. The holiday costs £100 per child but funding is available if needed. To book, contact Kerry Keast on kerrykeast@cornwallblind.org.uk or call 01872 266708.
