GreenMarket Expands Hours and Selection

e g i n n i n g this month,

a wider selec- tion of healthy, local ly pro- d u c e d a n d fresh foods will be available at earlier hours at a popular downtown Fort Myers loca- tion. The GreenMarket at the Alliance of the Arts will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, offering fish, honey, eggs, produce, herbs, bread and baked goods, native plants, organic fertilizers and garden supplies, organic skincare products, nontoxic household cleaners, gourmet cheeses, chocolate and coffee, as well as T-shirts, pottery and handmade crafts. In addition to seasonal Florida

staples such as avocadoes and man- goes, the GreenMarket growers plan to offer heat-resistant Everglades tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, okra, zucchini, yams, leaf vegetables, mus- cadine grapes and a variety of herbs, both freshly cut and potted. Non-food items include a 100

percent organic worm tea bio-fertil- izer that increases plant growth while reducing the grower’s ecological foot- print; and eco-friendly skincare prod- ucts made by Sloan-Greiner Enterpris- es, an authorized Wowgreen vendor that recently received USDA Organic certification. Live music, artistic and other

educational activities are offered on select Saturdays. Patrons can also bring electronic, metal, glass, plastic and aluminum materials for recycling.
