in latched dial signed Tho. Tompion London, with cherub spandrels, calendar aperture with pin-hole adjustment and early style hour hand, the movement with six ring-turned latched pillars, tic-tac escapement with knife-edge suspension and signed in a drapery cartouche Thomas Tompion LondiniFecit, the hours struck on a large bell and, at the half, the following hour on a small bell, the backplate engraved with tulips and with an aperture revealing the numbered silvered internal courtwheel, the moulded case with carrying handle and gilt-brass basket decorated with birds and sprays of leaves, the movement latched to the case, the lower rear moulding of the case latched to ease removal of the movement. DELANDER. George I ebony and silver mounted stick barometer by Daniel Delander, London. The architectural
case of oak veneered with ebony and surmounted by three brass finials applied with contrasting silver foliate decoration, the silver tablet below signed ‘Delander fecit’. This barometer is the only example so far recorded by Delander, circa 1725-30. Height: 431
