Wonderfully Warm Weather

Barbados is blessed with a perfect combination of weather because of the trade winds coming off the Atlantic Ocean. This creates the high temperatures during the day followed by the deliciously cooler breezes at night. With an average daily high of 80°F/27°C and 3,000 hours of sunshine per year, is there a better destination for some holiday sun? We don’t think so.

Helping children in difficult situations

The Sandy Lane Charitable Trust has established a scheme, launched in February 2010, to provide much-needed counselling and support for Barbadian children with emotional and behavioural problems. In collaboration with the Youth Development Trust and with the support of the Department of Education, The Sandy Lane Charitable Trust is providing funding for a Primary School Counselling Programme to help the pupils who are exhibiting inappropriate behaviour such as aggression, violence, stealing and hyperactivity, and offering counselling for victims of sexual and emotional abuse.

At the heart of the scheme is the need for counselling for students, helping them with coping skills, giving them support, and working with them towards a more positive future. But the scheme also looks to provide support for the children’s families and teachers, building a framework of support and proactive development within the community.
