“Sandy Lane and the Country Club Course were very pleased to be part of Mr. Sandeman’s Guinness World Record”, remarked Sandy Lane’s General Manager Robert Logan, “but most importantly, we are thrilled that he chose to use this opportunity to give back to the children of Barbados through Sunshine Village.”
Sandeman, a pro golfer who now resides in Barbados and who had been off the circuit due to a hand injury from 2006 to 2009, first played at Sandy Lane’s golf course at the tender age of ten. Early last year he noticed that there was no previous record for “The Most Birdies in a Day” and so proposed the new category to Guinness World Records. After some intensive training at the end of 2009 and accompanied by two officials from the Barbados Golf Association, the new world record was set on January 29th 2010.
