Trumpeter Chris Botti Returns To
The Capitol Center
Gifted instrumentalist and com-
poser Chris Botti will return to the Capitol Center stage on Thursday,
May 13 at 7:30pm. Botti has
earned mainstream appreciation for his succession of best-selling albums. Since the release of his 2004 criti-
cally acclaimed CD “When I Fall In Love,” Botti (pronounced BOH-tee) has become the largest-selling Ameri-
can jazz instrumental artist. His success has crossed over to audiences usually reserved for pop music and his ongoing association with PBS has led to four #1 Jazz Albums, as well as multiple Gold, Platinum and Grammy Awards. Tickets to the May 13 performance by Chris Botti are on sale

Lakes Region Singers Celebrate Spring With Free Concert
The Lakes Region Singers invite you to welcome the return
of spring at their 17th Annual Spring Concert on Friday eve-
ning, May 15, at 7:30pm. This well-known community choral
group performs at the First United Methodist Church on Route 11-A in Gilford. The concert is free and open to the public. The performance will open with a melodic chorus from Haydn’s “Creation” oratorio, “The Heavens Are Telling,” fol- lowed by two challenging Mozart pieces, “Laudate Dominum” and “Regina Coeli.” Then the singers will continue with Craig Courtney’s fresh new work, “I See, I Hear, I Know,” and a stir- ring arrangement of “You Raise Me Up.” After intermission, the program will feature some lighter
fare, starting with Joseph Martin’s rousing “Come to the Music,” and continuing with a medley of highlights from the Broadway musical, “Les Miserables.” The evening will close with “Joyful, Joyful,” the exciting finale to the movie, “Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit.”
Canterbury Shaker Village Opens Season
Canterbury Shaker Village opens its season with a weekend
of music, traditional arts, and the Grappone Canterbury Cross
Country Challenge 5K Saturday and Sunday, May 15th and 16th.
The Concord Chorale Chamber Singers will perform in the Village’s historic Meeting House Sunday at 3pm. A compli- mentary wine reception follows. The weekend begins with the “Hands to Work, Hearts to God” event, Saturday, from 10am to 5pm, celebrating Shaker crafts and traditional arts and rural traditions. The event includes a plow match, demonstrations on log
hewing, beekeeping, Shaker chair taping, oval box making, Shaker broom making, textiles, “Wool to Cloth,” activities, horse drawn wagon rides, and the Canterbury Shakers Sing- ers in concert at 2:30pm. The day will start with the Grappone Automotive Canter-
bury Cross Country Challenge 5K at 10 am. Prizes will be awarded.
Canterbury Shaker Village also offers a new tour in 2010,
along with its other offerings, “Upon Shaker Ground: Growing a Shaker Community” telling the Canterbury Shakers’ story through their strong connection with the land. Admission is $17 adults, $8 children under 18. Children 5 and under visit for free. Group rates are available. Tickets to the Concord Chorale Chamber Singers Concert are $22 and include the wine reception.
