head up Wildcat for their mountain adventure and ski race. The Wildcat Express

Quad zipped us to the summit. The day was even better than we hoped: no rain and great snow. Tuckerman and Hunting- ton Ravines were just barely visible through the clouds and we never saw the summit of Washing- ton. It was just freezing at the summit and at the base it was nearly 40 de- grees. The mountain report

read 33 trials (20 groomed) were open! For our first run we went down The Wi ldcat Trai l and we had a nice view of the Sherburne Trail across Pinkham Notch. We all felt like it was the first day of the season again, we were giddy. We made lots of turns and all I

could think of was what a shame it was that most all my friends had put their skis away for the season. On the Polecat Trail we

passed an adventure racer hustling up the mountain. We skied straight through the whole morning and we were exhausted. On our way into lunch we saw some Yahoos, happy children, getting a snow- mobile ride. Making lots of turns in

the soft snow tired our legs out—it was wonder- ful.
