A Moment of Clarity: Get On the
Upswing

f you ever had a moment of clarity, where you decided that your past was gone and your future was not there yet, and you were going to be in the present from then on, you will relate to this article and if you have not, you will be curious and per- haps create that moment that can make a “huge” difference in your life. This moment can happen any time. It can be a major or a minor event. It does not matter. You can be in the middle of a divorce, financial difficulties, changing jobs, or simply during a bad experience at a social activity. There is a time that we feel, “enough is enough,” “I have had it, and I am not going to take it anymore,” and we make a change that enhances our lives. You are not sure how you did it but the change happened and you were on the upswing instead of feeling down. If you happen to be down, find the way to be on the up-
swing. Look for that moment of clarity where you know you will be alright no matter what has happened. During the upswing, you move on and do not look back. When there has not been that moment of clarity to make a change, it is difficult to do so because we have been conditioned by society and we feel that we must comply with the conditioning. At times all of us cannot fit into the conditioning and we become rebellious and create troubles for ourselves. Looking for a moment of clarity can help you to break away from the conditioning and analyze what is healthy for you. What is that you desire in your heart. There are sad and angry emotions that we manage and as time passes, we end up laughing about them. If you think about it many of us let go of feeling down and get on the upswing of things without thinking about it. We just do it. We choose to feel better by the very nature of our sensations but we do not realize it. Can you imagine if you realize all the times that you have dissolved negative emotions and feelings? You could really decrease those bad moments and choose your moment of clarity, jumping onto the upswing every time. There are so many responsibilities in today’s world that at times it becomes difficult to manage the stress and pressures in whatever you do that you may become desperate, but some- how all the down times are managed and you keep your head above water. You have the ability to move on to get on the upswing of things, to let go of the past and the future and con- centrate in the present, being grateful for whatever you have and for that very moment of clarity. Some of you are probably experts solving negative emotions and dissolving difficult situ- ations but have not realized it yet. Some times when I see a client that has requested my therapeutic intervention, it takes

only one session for the client to realize that he/she has the clarity to manage the repetitive patterns from the past and the worries of the future by just analyzing the present and being grateful about it. Through that moment of
clarity you can find the inner strength that has been within you constantly, protecting you without you knowing. But think about it, whatever age or gender you are, how many situations you have managed during your life time. Bring on that clarity that is within you and realize that it can become a healthy habit where all your downtimes would be minimized, and through your clarity you will be able to get on the upswing by making a choice to do so. It
can be simple if you allow it, but if you don’t allow clarity it can appear impossible. Haven’t you experienced a time where you were taken by some negative emotions, thoughts, or per- haps a pain of some sort; then, something suddenly happens and the negative feelings are gone. You are over it and you move on. For instance, you can be driving and having just a bad
time within your mind, say you are tired, but then another car makes some kind of an infraction and you immediately protect yourself, you do whatever it takes to stay clear of the situa- tion. In this instant your clarity is automatic and it resolves for you. This clarity, if you allow it, will get you out of your dilemmas and feeling better. Moments of clarity allow you to resolve whatever is happening in the moment; it overrides your negative thoughts. Through clarity you can decide what thoughts are healthy for you. What thoughts will get you down and what thoughts will get you up. In other words through moments of clarity you can choose healthy thoughts, feelings,
