The Story Factory
This is where Eggsplorers can create their very own story books with full- colour illustrations. Each child’s story books are saved in the bookshelf in their Eggsplorer’s house.
The other fabulous feature of the Story Factory is the Weekly Contest. Enter stories into the contest to win 200 Golden Eggs. Every week, the top stories are shortlisted and go on display in the Story Factory Showroom. It is then up to all our Eggsplorers to vote for their favourite story. Read and rate the top stories to help choose the winner. Winners are announced every Friday.
Children love to read their own stories and The Story Factory is a wonderful way to build a love of both reading and writing.
The Skills Bank
This area focuses on building skills in three core areas:
1 Spelling 2 Vocabulary 3 Grammar and Punctuation
In each area of The Skills Bank you’ll find 12 levelled sets of lessons suitable for students in Years 1, 2 and 3.
Teachers can determine where each student begins, by assigning levels in the student management centre. You can set your whole class to work on the same content, i.e. nouns or you can have groups or individuals working at a variety of levels. Alternatively, each area – Spelling, Vocabulary and Grammar, includes a pre-test that students can complete to determine their individual starting levels. The progressive lessons and activities build core skills in these three key areas of English.
Spelling
Each spelling lesson has a variety of interactive activities that reinforce word structure and recall using one of 96 carefully graded spelling lists. Students can begin at a level that suits them and every lesson ends with a test. Matching Look-Cover-Write-Check worksheets can be printed off the website to use alongside each lesson.
Assessment and reporting
All student results will be recorded in the teacher centre in the form of student reports. These will include test results and lessons completed. Teachers will also have access to a complete scope and sequence of content covered, word lists and skills charts.
Puzzle Park
32 brain stretching puzzles that reinforce a variety of literacy skills including comprehension skills, sight word knowledge, vocabulary development, following directions and problem solving. Students earn Golden Eggs for each correct answer in each of these timed activities.
