What is Excel Test Zone?
• It’s a brand new site where you prepare for the year 3, year 5, year 7 and year 9 NAPLAN* Tests, the Opportunity Class Placement Tests and Selective Schools and Scholarship Tests online! It's brought to you by Excel, the leading Australian publisher of workbooks and study guides.
• We’ve worked hard to make this site as good as our Excel books. We have twenty years experience in test preparation and can guarantee the quality of our material. We have commissioned our highly experienced Excel authors to write thousands of carefully graded questions which closely match the format and style of questions that students will be given in the tests that students will be sitting for.
• We also provide detailed answer explanations for each question so that students learn as they go. The site is child and parent friendly so is ideal for setting homework and enabling children to work by themselves.
• Students will be able to practise tests online and see how they rank on a state and national basis and have their results emailed instantly!
• Students can also take advantage of the Gymbrainium section which includes educational and interactive games designed to reward and motivate students.
What makes it so useful to you as a teacher?
• For tests such as NAPLAN* students need to familiarise themselves with its format and the types of questions in it — this way they will build the confidence that they need in order to do well! Our website will provide them with the ideal practice online — at home or in the classroom.
• Students will be able to practise tests and redo them as many times as they want, review their mistakes and then correct their work so that they see immediate improvement! Using the online personalised feedback feature, students will stay motivated as they compete with themselves and also with other students all over Australia.
• A teacher will be able to track individual student achievement and responses to questions so that they can assess each student’s ability and focus on improving specific areas of weakness.
• There will be two types of tests to practise: Short tests, which will take around 15–20 minutes to complete, and sample tests, which will take the same amount of time as the actual tests to complete.
