John Richard Stone was born on 27 March 1921. He enlisted into the Royal Artillery at Woolwich on 7 January 1936. With the Royal
Artillery he served in the Middle East, October-December 1940; Sudan, December 1940-June 1942 and Italy, June 1942-April 1945.
Stone transferred to the R.E.M.E. in October 1951, and served in Korea, July 1953-November 1954; Singapore, November 1954-April
1955, and Malaya, May 1955-July 1956. He was discharged as a Warrant Officer Class 1 in the R.E.M.E. on 1 December 1961. Sold
with recipient’s Certificate of Service; Soldier’s Record and Pay Book; R.E.M.E. Association Booklet, and associated papers.
With riband bar and three identity disks.

Corporal Wendell Lamont Thorne and his wife, Maisie Irene Thorne, were killed in a car accident at Petersville, New Brunswick, on 19
September 1958. With copied newspaper cuttings relating to the accident and death.
Telegraphist Reginald John Watson, R.C.N.V.R., was killed in action on 29 April 1944, when the Canadian destroyer Athabaskan was
torpedoed and sunk in action with German destroyers off the coast of Brest. Half her compliment of 240 were lost, the survivors were
made prisoners-of-war. Watson’s body was recovered and was buried in the Plouescat Communal Cemetery, Finistere, France. He was
the son of James and Marie Antoinette Delrue Watson, and husband of Elizabeth Joan McGarry Watson of New York City.

Private Claude Cecil Clerke, New Zealand Infantry, attached H.Q. 4th N.Z. Infantry Brigade, was killed in action in the Western Desert
on 5 July 1942, aged 32 years. He was buried in the El Alamein War Cemetery. He was the son of George Frederick and Gussie Levena
Clerke of Rewa, Wellington.
Corporal Mervyn Henry Cotterell, New Zealand Infantry, was killed/died on 17 February 1944, aged 27 years. He was buried in the
Bourail New Zealand War Cemetery, New Caledonia. He was the son of Charles Richard Cotterell and of Esther Lillian Cotterell of
Moerewa, Auckland. With a quantity of copied research.
