hen developing your marketing
plan, you are probably con-
cerned with how your con-
sumers will behave. Tracking their
behavior can help you decide how to
place your products in your store, how
often to change things up, how much
inventory to purchase, and when to
offer sales and promotions. No one can
know for sure how your customers are
going to behave, but by watching close-
ly and taking a few preemptive steps,
you can predict how consumer behav-
iors will affect your bottom line.
Human behavior is very complex
and you shouldn’t expect that you’ll be
able to accurately predict how people
will behave in the retail world. You can,
however, hopefully come up with a
general plan to market towards a signif-
icant portion of your target audience.
The first step is to talk to your cus-
tomers. Find out what they would
change about your retail store if they
could. Find out what they like and don’t
like. Implement their ideas if possible.
You may be surprised to find that many
of your customers are thinking the same

icant as your cheap plastic hangers can ased outlet to express what they’re real- worrying about offending the owner or
