“Our latest innovation allows Jetset to offer no-frills fares with a full-frills service,” says Jetset sales director Adrian Smyth. “The majority of no-frills airlines offer extras such as baggage, sporting equipment, meals and speedy boarding. We have updated our system so agents can include these extras in the booking process.” Baggage is the most desired “optional extra” for leisure travellers, and the new system clearly shows whether checked baggage is included in the selected fare quoted at the confirmed costing stage. Other extras in the system that customers may want to check in are bikes, golf clubs, diving equipment, skis, snowboards, surfboards and paragliders. The list allows agents to pick any additional extras that the selected airline has to offer. Another benefit of this new feature is that agents can set commission on extras. This is pre-set to 5%, but agents are able to amend this if required.

Smyth says: “We introduced this new feature in response to agent feedback. We were missing out on bookings because we couldn’t offer those optional extras. But now, think about the weirdest and wackiest extra an airline might carry for an extra charge, and you will find it in our system. EasyJet will transport tool boxes! “We are one of the few consolidators selling no-frills airlines in an integrated display that also incorporates scheduled airlines.
“An increasing number of independent agents are realising that no-frills airlines have carved up the whole of Europe and that they have no option but to book them. However, if agents book on easyJet’s website they have to have a conversation with the client about the booking fee. Our system incorporates that fee.” But it won’t stop there. Smyth says other website enhancements are in the pipeline, including a change to the way outbound and inbound fares are displayed, making it easier for agents to pick specific flights.
