Further support includes destination fact files, which are being developed to highlight car hire opportunites and how they will enhance clients’ enjoyment of the destination. Rewarding agents


Affordable is extending its agent incentive of a £4 Capital Bond voucher for every booking, until Christmas. Its commission rates vary by account, but remain “competitive”.


YOUR CAR HIRE. Agent training


Your Car Hire has partnered with TTG Knowledge College and Online Travel Training to host its online training pro- gramme on ttglive.com/ttgknowledge. The programme has three modules: “How to sell car hire”; “The nitty gritty”, which covers insurance details; and “How to make a booking”.


Two online training videos, “About car hire” and “Booking car hire”, and on-site training sessions are also available.


Sales support


The company has a dedicated trade-only website at your-carhire.com, which has links to the training modules and videos, as well as an introduction to Your Car Hire. Agents can set up an account by emailing info@your-carhire.com


A sales support team is also on hand from 09:00-18:00 Monday to Friday, on 0208 680 8206. Agents can use the same number to make bookings, or for any queries they have where they will be directed accordingly.


Rewarding agents


Agents can pick up three Accredited Travel Professionals (ATP) points on completion of the training course and will be entered into a prize draw for a luxury hamper if they do so before Christmas.


Your Car Hire pays agents 15% commis- sion, but if they also sell the company’s Super Damage Waiver Excess, which gives the client additional protection at a cost of £4.50 per day, Your Car Hire pays agents an extra £10. It also pays retailers £25 for every 10 bookings it makes.


AVIS. Agent training


Avis has relaunched its Avis Training Academy. It is available through ttglive.com/ttgknowl- edge and includes five interactive modules: “The Rental


Counter”, “Car Guides”, “Insurances & Extras”, “Selling Avis”, and “Spotting Opportunities”.


The Training Academy also provides advice on overcoming customer car rental myths, the skills they need to sell Avis car hire and tips on overcoming any customer objections they may encounter.

Avis has a dedicated sales support phone line, on 0844 5445 320, which agents can call Monday to Friday; or they can email travelsales@avis.co.uk for help and advice. There is also a dedicated team of 11 experts, seven of whom are field-based and will visit agents in-store for individual training requests.


Other assets on avistraining.co.uk include “Avis made easy”, a jargon-buster, a guide to the insurance available, destination guides, an overview of the latest offers and links to the Training Academy and booking site. All new accounts receive a “Welcome to Avis” pack, including material to help promote car hire. However, Avis will also

In addition, tailored promotional opportu- nities, such as discounts and free upgrades, are available above the regular tactical deals.


Rewarding agents


Agents completing Avis’s online training modules have the chance to win an Apple iPad. The company also offers commission agreed on an individual account basis, as well as regular trade incentives, including discounts of up to 25% on car hire, plus free car upgrade for agents (whenever possible) when booking.


SIXT. Agent training


Sixt has a central sales support team and two road-based sales managers who visit agencies and train staff on its products and booking system. Alternatively, the team can demonstrate the booking system online through a live demonstration or provide customised booking guides tailored to individual agents’ requirements.

A UK call centre is open Monday to Friday, 07:00-04:00, and at weekends from 08:00- 04:00, on 0844 248 6606, or agents can visit reservations@sixt.com


A full online booking system is available on all major GDS booking systems with code SX. Agents can apply for their agent online access at sixt.com/quotes-bookings/ travel-agencies. In addition, point-of-sale marketing material can be arranged to fit with agencies’ set up.


Rewarding agents


Commission starts at 14% but levels are negotiable depending on volume. Discounted hire rates are also available for IATA members while special offers can be created to meet specific requirements.
