One hundred up for Trust Charter
TRAVEL AGENTS are continuing to sign up to the Trust in Travel Agents Char- ter and display it in their shops and of- fices – with the number now past the 100 mark. And from this week their names will all be listed for the first time on the campaign’s
dedicated website –
Trustintravelagents.com – as a public commitment to the campaign values, and as a record for consumers to check if their agent has signed up. Our Charter – available online to download and print off – invites agents to make a public commitment to four key principles: Service Value Protection Community.
Jayne Otto of LJ Personal Travel in Borough Green in Kent is among the latest agents to sign up. “The pledges stated are all done by
us every day,” she said. “As a small independent agency in a village we need to earn the trust and respect of locals. “Repeat business and word-of-
mouth recommendations are where we get most business from. “We applaud TTGfor launching this campaign and hope it achieves its objective of getting people to realise the benefits of booking through agents.” Further support came in from Marion
Owen Travel in Hull. “We are a real agency office, visible to the public,” said owner Marion Owen. “They can call in to discuss and book travel arrangements face-to-face. “We have seen clients drift away to buying direct from the web but come back to us after finding they have not saved any money and the web does not answer their questions.”
