T
here will be a “rumble in the Rockies”
at the 2008 Joint Statistical
Meetings. The ASA Stat Bowl will
be held during JSM in Denver this year,
organized by Michael Anderson and
Stephanie Cano of The University of Texas
at San Antonio and sponsored by the ASA
and Mu Sigma Rho, the National Statistical
Honor Society.
Stat Bowl participants will receive up
to $250 in travel reimbursement from the
ASA, regardless of their performance in
the tournament. This will enable students
of statistics to make the trip to Denver to
experience JSM firsthand and have fun
with statistics trivia. The Stat Bowl is an
individual competition, but team points
also are kept and a team championship
is awarded.
